Many people considering learning a new language will make the statement "I just want to learn Spanish without all of the grammar."
Unfortunately, unless you are learning your new language in a total immersion arena, this is not a reasonable desire.
Grammar is the heart of any language because it provides the structure you need in order to effectively organize and convey ideas and messages.
Although I am always trying out new ways to minimize grammar studies, but they are inevitable. Simply memorizing phrases for use in specific situations does not prepare you for creative thought.
College and university studies will necessitate that your students be able to recognize, name, and use the different parts of speech and grammatical structures that accompany the Spanish language. Purely conversational Spanish classes are best left to advanced learners who have built a good, grammatical foundation.
